Submission Guidelines
We love unpublished writers just as much as we love published writers (sometimes even more so). MMPP is more likely to publish work that is provocative and invigorating rather than overly complicated pieces of pomposity. We're not opposed to capital L literary but it would still have to be a piece you'd want to see wheat-pasted around your town. Excite us with your garden-fresh flash and titillate us with your poems. Let us home your vigorous words and create art to accompany them. And after we marry your wise wordery, we’ll bring the lit to the great outdoors.
We publish based on a rotating theme. See below for the latest premise and the cutoff dates (which will give you more details on what we're looking to publish). We love surprising interpretations of our themes; literal interpretations we’re less keen on. That being said, if we receive a piece that isn’t –in some way–reflective of the theme we’ll gnash our teeth and shake our fists at the heavens, and then send you a wimpy rejection letter. Don’t make us do that–we hate that. Length of the work: our sweet spot is between 150 and 300 words. Anything over or under, we’ll be less psyched on. Poems? Let’s try to keep it under 25 lines, bbz. Regular rules of the trade: we hate rules. But for real, wait till you hear whether we accept or reject your work before you send more. That’s it. Send it. Wait. Please only submit once per theme. We accept reprints so long as you own the rights. If you don't hear from us, send an email to meowmeowpowpowlit@gmail.com |
Submission window is open: January 1st - March 28th

The theme is: Happy Phantom
[Theme: Happy Phantom] What pleasant ghosts have stopped to visit you recently? What red-haired anthems do you play on repeat while smiling specters tap at the window? A favorite album spins on repeat in the background shaking the walls like an earthquake. Shadows you consider friends peek out behind corners. We’re open for Happy Phantom submissions, inspired by the artist and album that got us through some hard times; and the delight that comes with considering some songs visitors from the past.

Meow Meow Pow Pow is a broadside graffiti press that publishes prose, poetry, pain, prettiness, and putridity based on a revolving theme. Created by a posse of bored literature devotees, T-Rex enthusiasts, and cat fanatics, our crack team wants to see your words made into bitty posters to share, and wheatpaste, and fashion into paper planes that will glide and decimate in theether and become the fabric of the universe.
